Walking in the Flesh and Living By the Spirit

Walking in the Flesh and Living By the Spirit

  Romans 7:20-25 (KJV)

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

In these five verses Paul describes the daily battle of the Born Again, the Righteous of God. In which we have to continually walk IN the flesh while at the same time live daily, walk BY the Spirit of Faith and Obedience.

So, some may say, if Born Again why the struggle? The Reason is that; when we are Born Again, have our mind renewed to the Spirit. We receive only the promise of salvation and because of this we must endure or overcome to the end, as it is written;

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved.

Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Revelation 3:21 (NKJV) Laodiceans Lukewarm 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Revelation 21:7 (NKJV) 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

Then some may ask why, just the promise and not the gift of salvation? The Holy Spirit speaking through Jesus and Paul explain;

John 6:63 (AKJV)
63 It is the spirit that quickens (gives life); the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
1 Corinthians 15:50 (AKJV)
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

So, we can see that until the Flesh and Soul are separated, either by the physical death of the Flesh or the coming of Christ and the Rapture/ Resurrection. WE cannot receive the gift of salvation, eternal life. For “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.”

However, we have hope in Christ through the Holy Spirit. For Christ the Living Word of God came to us in both the Letter and the Spirit. The Letter to help guide our flesh unto God’s Grace and Mercy so to stand before Him. And the Spirit of the Word, the True Blood of Christ, to was us clean and receive the promise of salvation. All so we can endure to the end and over come evil and the flesh of sin.

All as it is written;
Romans 2:28-29(NKJV) For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.

Romans 3:19, 20(NKJV) Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.   Therefore, by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 7:5-6(NKJV) For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.   But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

2 Corinthians 3:4-6(NKJV) And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Galatians 3:23-26 (KJV) But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.   But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

So, let us learn from Paul’s words, understanding the difference between the Letter and Spirit of the Living Word, Christ Jesus. Allow the Letter of the Word to teach us God’s Will and seek to put the Spirit of the Living Word, Christ Example, into daily application in all we Do and Say. As it is written;

Romans 8:1-9 (KJV)
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

So, let all seek to be Born Again, Indwelled by the Holy Spirit, as it is written;

John 3:3, 5-7 (KJV)
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

1 John 3:9-11 (KJV)
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remained in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
