The Old Testament vs the New Testament scriptures

The Old Testament vs the New Testament scriptures

Food for thought. Many of us like to bear on single scriptures from the Old Testament without considering, changes that came about with the New Testament, going from being under the Law to being under Grace, and the changes, God put in place.

Romans 3:19-22 (KJV)
19  Now we know that what things so ever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21  But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Galatians 3:9-11 (KJV)
9  So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10  For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11  But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Galatians 3:22-24 (KJV)
22  But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23  But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

First we must remember that we are now under grace and not the law. Under the New Testament and not the Old Testament.
Thus, we have new commands that replace the old. Such as we do not purse or overtake, we turn the other cheek and pray, we overcome by Faith.
For our battles are not of this world as in old but in the spiritual world.

Ephesians 6:10-13 (KJV)
10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

1 John 5:1-6 (KJV)
1  Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and everyone that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 2  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4  For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
5  Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

Second we ourselves decree, declare nothing. We can decree, declare, things through the power of God and Christ.
If it be God’s Will and not ours.

Psalm 2:7 (KJV)
7  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Finally we do not seek the prosperity of the things flesh and the world.

Matthew 6:25, 32-34 (KJV)
25  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 16:26  (AKJV)
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

John 6:63  (AKJV)
63 It is the spirit that quickens(gives life); the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

1 Corinthians 15:50  (AKJV)
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.   1

Timothy 6:9-11  (AKJV)
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
