To some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous

To some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous

Luke 18: 9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men–extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’
13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Romans 10: 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. 5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”
Brothers and Sisters, are we thinking more of ourselves than we should? Are we righteous, by the Law, or according to the scriptures, the Word, the Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus? For there is a difference. By the Law we may gain righteousness in the flesh but not the justification to salvation. For it is written;

Romans 2:  11 For there is no partiality with God. 12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law 13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

Romans 3:  20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
For what we need is the righteousness of, by and through the Spirit, the Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus, the Living Word of God. As it is written.

Romans 3: 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference
And these are the ones God calls the Born Again of Christ and by this they are known.

1 John 3: 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

So let us be careful that we live by the righteousness of the Spirit, the Living Word, Christ Jesus. Separating ourselves from those that are not of God and walking in the fellowship of Christ. For as it is written;

Matthew 12:  30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

1 Corinthians 15: 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
